Thank You Boise Cornhole Fans!
We did it again! We increased our donation to ALSTDI by approximately 30% (our number of participating teams increased by 33%!). Every dollar we donate is directed to researching treatments to end ALS.
Thank you to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, teams, attendees and other friends for pitching in to achieve this result.
Congratulations to the winners of the tournaments and fundraising contests.
Fundraising: 1st prize Amy Cox, 50k Alaska Air miles and New Balance shoes, 2nd prize to the great team of “D-Bags”, Joel Parker and Aaron Heisler, 50k Alaska Air miles. Thank you to all fundraisers, we love you, this is what gets it done for ALS research. Amy will be conducting seminars on her fundraising “methods” later in the year.
Tourney Winners: “Here for the Beer” Jared Cox and Cam Smith, 50k Alaska Air Miles, “champion” cornhole boards, and the coveted cornhole trophies. Jared has a New York Yankees thing going. Practice people, practice. He’s running out of room for his loot. 2nd place, “Baggin’ n’ Swaggin’” Shayne Saxton and Travis Saxton, 50K Alaska Air miles, cornhole boards. The committee is especially pleased for these hardcore volunteers to take home some stuff. These guys have been with us every year to work the tourney and this year broke through to the championship round as players.
Biggest Losers: the winners of the loser bracket are Steven Michaelson and Brian Poe of team “Rancho Carne High Toros,” who receive 50K Alaska Air miles. They defeated “Fifty Shades of Cornhole” who won the ire of the committee for such a nasty team name.
Thank you to our sponsors and in-kind donors, we could not have done it without you: RMH/Cottonwood Grille, Ed and Teri Ahrens, Ahrens DeAngeli Law Group, Deschutes Optical, ALSTDI (how about those SOCKS!), Eric and Laura Cremers, Kevin and Amy Chen, Woolsten and Tarter, Frank Harper (realtor with Rocky Mountain Real Estate), Micron Foundation, Stability Networks, PortaPros, Crooked Fence Brewing Company, Ninkasi Brewing, Payette Brewing Co, Slanted Rock Brewing Co, Country Crows.
Thanks to the tourney day volunteers for helping everyone have a fun day, and for keeping things running a smoothly as possible when you have knuckleheads on the mike: Scott, Donna, Todd, Alicia, Terry, Becky, Gail, Ann, Frank, Emma, Signe, Manny, Shayne, Kenny, Alysha, Maddie, Neeka, Jack, Mel, Travis, Lori, Marvin, Russ, and JoAnn. From 8:00 to 4:30, you kept it all running, both the tournament and the beer. Special thanks to Mike Shannon from the mothership for stopping by, giving us a little update on the lab, and bringing all that TDI swag.
Thanks to the committee: Scott Prisbrey, Donna Baker Purdy, Ann DeAngeli and Neeka Rogers. It’s a pleasure to work with such committed people (January to July!). Special thanks to Donna for pulling it all together that last week.
Next year: contests, some different bracketology, more teams, more sponsors, easier registration. Those of you who volunteered to assist the committee next year, now is the time hit reply and let us know what you can do to help. We would like to expand our world, so anyone who is interested, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org[/email]. OH AND MARK YOUR CALENDAR: SATURDAY, JUNE 21, 2014! SAVE THE DATE!
Last but most importantly, we don’t forget that we are playing to raise money to help end ALS, currently a sure and brutal killer. Through your donations, ALSTDI has provided hope for families touched by ALS by introducing therapies which are presently going through the trial process (see www.als.net). We play in your honor, John, Glen, Ron, Ben, Monte, and Cliff and all others who ALS has taken from us. We play to fight with you, Corey, Joe, Sam, Cheri and others who are fighting ALS.
