I was diagnosed in my early 30s right after meeting my Prince Charming, Kevin. We were engaged and my right hand's weakness was interfering with work and my drunken party girl slur was creeping into earlier parts of the day. It took three months to be told I had 2-5 years left because it was not MS, a pinched nerve, carpal tunnel, or a brain tumor… it was ALS. Our American Dream doesn’t look like what we thought it would, but five years later I love what I have.
Since being diagnosed with ALS, Kate has been working nonstop with groups like Her ALS Story, ALS TDI, CCALS, Ales for ALS, and ALS ONE to share her story and raise awareness about ALS and funds for ALS research.
